Job Description

Job responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic, people person to join our friendly, hardworking Nursing team. Burlington Primary Care has approximately 17,000 patients from a wide variety of backgrounds with differing needs. Our Practice Nurses handle a varied workload, dealing with patients face to face, by telephone or by group consultation. Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7am – 6.30pm (exact shifts to be agreed).

We offer a generous package of 6 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays and entry into the NHS pension scheme.

  • DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE: provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care

To provide nursing care to practice patients including primary care treatment, preventative care, screening and education. The post holder will support efficient service delivery to approximately 16,500 patients and support achievement against PMS contract, QOF and Enhanced Services. Attendance at relevant Practice meetings.

Dimensions The post holder will support the practice population of approximately 16,500 patients.

Key results areas Provide assessment, screening, treatment services and health education advice. Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of specific clinical specialisms/pathways as advertised. Work as part of the practice nursing team to organise nursing services. Provide nursing treatments, general health screenings and health promotion. Advise patients on minor ailments with GP referrals as needed. Provide wound care, immunisations, screening programs and chronic disease management.

Administrative and professional responsibilities: participate in the administrative duties of the practice team, maintain accurate notes in SystmOne, and ensure documentation is completed.

Treatment room supplies and equipment: maintain supplies, clean equipment, and follow infection control policy.

Liaison: maintain communication with multidisciplinary team and other agencies.

Professional development: attend meetings and pursue ongoing education and CPD; annual performance review; maintain registrations and training.

Infection control: maintain infection control procedures, PPE, hand hygiene, waste management, decontamination, and training.

Qualifications and experience

  • Essential: Registered Nurse (Adult) with the NMC; CPD evidence; experience as a qualified nurse (primary care preferred).
  • Desirable: experience managing patients with long-term conditions; post-registration qualifications in primary care (e.g., cervical cytology, immunisations, contraception, chronic disease).
