A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner's Business and Technology Insights (BTI) sector, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative insights which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner's value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

As a Senior Director in Gartner's Technology and Service Provider group, you will advise senior leaders in technology providers on cloud market trends, technologies and strategies, helping them make the best decisions to succeed in their roles and drive growth for their company. In this role, you will be researching, writing, presenting and advising on the critical factors required to succeed in an increasingly complex and competitive market.

What you will do:

  • Create innovative, thought provoking, and highly leveraged research for clients at global cloud technology and services providers.
  • Bring provocative, independent insights to Gartner leaders that can evolve the course of a research agenda
  • Research, analyze and predict market trends and shifts to provide clients and vendors with actionable insights
  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions
  • Create and deliver high value presentation materials on and off stage for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings
  • Provide high quality and timely research content peer review
  • Build credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy
  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community
  • Research and track trends in public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud and server virtualization solutions from the point-of-view of technology, buyer behavior, market players and ecosystems.
  • Track buyer and competitor behaviors to identify areas of differentiation and competitive advantage.
  • Predict trends and disruptions that could affect growth and competitiveness of cloud service providers.
  • Establish research positions that are acknowledged and adopted across a cohort of analysts.
  • Provide high quality and timely research content peer review.
  • Become a trusted advisor to client product managers and chief product officers of cloud providers by providing a regular cadence of high-quality interactions via 1:1 client inquiry.
  • Provide sales support for large and global technology clients and prospects.

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
  • 12+ years of experience working for technology providers in the cloud and/or data center infrastructure space.
  • Expertise in public, private and hybrid cloud services and technologies.
  • Expert knowledge of the cloud services market, including the leading providers, emerging providers and their offerings.
  • Concrete experience of the product management lifecycle including product strategy, product realization, product launch, etc.
  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
  • Ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions during 1:1 client inquiry.
  • Ability to produce high-quality written deliverables within scheduled deadlines.
  • Ability to synthesize data quickly and accurately from multiple sources.
  • Strong communications skills and ability to explain complex concepts concisely and simply
  • Ability to comfortably present at large and small-scale speaking engagements
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Deep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within subject area as well as the interplay in that market
  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
  • Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, regionally and globally.
