About the role:

This position is not suitable for applicants on a specialist pathway with limited registration.

The Emergency FACEM provides specialist emergency medical care and ensures smooth patient flow in the Emergency Department. During shifts, they provide clinical leadership, supervise Registrars and Junior Medical Officers, and participate in teaching junior doctors and medical students. The role involves collaboration with other specialists, providing some out-of-hours services, including weekends. The clinical duties are shared between GV Health and SVHM EDs, with flexibility for alternatives.

The Emergency FACEM contributes to strategic planning, quality improvement, and promotes GV Health as a regional health service. They support SVHM's values and strategic priorities, delivering clinical excellence, and supporting teaching, research, and governance programs.

GV Health Emergency Department:

• 36-bed ED with high acuity and diverse case mix
• A designated regional trauma service
• 3 state-of-the-art resuscitation bays
• 2 negative pressure isolation cubicles
• 13 additional acute care cubicles
• A dedicated Fast Track area with seven cubicles and a consultation room
• A 9-bed Short Stay Unit, including one isolation room
• A CT scan room, ultrasound room, and two X-Ray rooms
• A Behavioural Assessment room, mental health consult spaces, forensic room
