We are seeking a motivated journalism graduate who is eager to commence a career within broadcast journalism.

This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity with Australian's leading broadcast media organisation. Working and living regionally in Canberra will equip you with invaluable skills, paving the way for amazing long-term success in the industry.

Reporting to the Canberra Editor and working amongst our dynamic News Team in Canberra, you will be responsible for gathering, editing and presenting compelling local news stories in a composed, accurate and engaging manner. This role requires roster flexibility, and a willingness to work extra hours when the news day demands. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key people and organisations.
  • Breaking stories and creating engaging content.
  • Representing the company in a professional and courteous manner.

About you:

You'll be a driven and energetic journalism graduate, with the ability to think clearly and act quickly under pressure, possessing excellent communication skills to collaborate with different stakeholders internally, as well as externally with the local community. You'll be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on tight deadlines.

You will have:

  • A degree in journalism, or related subject (e.g. media & communications)
  • Proven journalism/ editorial skills
  • A solid understanding of media law and ethics.
  • Competency in script writing in TV News format
  • Meticulous attention to detail
