The Opportunity

We're seeking a skilled Bitumen Tanker Maintenance Technician to join our team. This hands-on role involves working with specialised equipment vital to road construction operations.

You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing bitumen tankers, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance. If you have a strong mechanical background and enjoy a fast-paced, team environment, this could be your ideal role.

The Tasks
  • Conduct routine inspections, diagnose faults, and perform preventative maintenance on tank systems, including burners, pumps, valves, and hydraulics.
  • Maintain heating systems that keep bitumen at optimal temperature during transport and unloading.
  • Carry out welding and fabrication repairs, monitor and calibrate controls, and ensure safety and environmental standards are met.
  • Work in both workshop and on-site settings to support operational readiness and minimise downtime.
About You
  • Mechanical and hydraulic system knowledge
  • Experience with burner systems and pipework
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Understanding of hazardous materials handling (especially hot bitumen)
  • Strong safety awareness and PPE compliance
Key Requirements
  • Routine maintenance of bitumen tanks and equipment
  • Inspecting and repairing heating systems
  • Servicing hydraulic systems
  • Checking insulation and tank integrity
  • Cleaning and flushing tanks
  • Testing and calibrating gauges and sensors
  • Performing welding and mechanical repairs
  • Ensuring safety and environmental compliance
