The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical/Instrumentation Maintenance Officer in our Hot Strip Mill (HSM) Gauges Maintenance team based in Port Kembla. As part of the Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla delivering a variety of products, solutions, and services to our export and domestic customers.

Focusing on the Electronic gauges section of the Hot Strip Mill, and occasionally working on gauges in surrounding departments, you will assist in managing complex manufacturing assets and drive continuous improvements to ensure plant uptime and increased output.

This role welcomes applications from electricians with exposure to instrumentation equipment, with opportunities to develop towards supervising and coordinating maintenance activities.

What Will You Do?

  • Maintain and improve plant condition, ensuring safety standards are never compromised.
  • Provide technical knowledge and root cause analysis to resolve equipment problems and maintain asset performance.
  • Manage daily plant performance, planning and overseeing maintenance activities safely.
  • Inspect equipment condition, seek performance improvements, and contribute to maintenance strategies.
  • Support gauge asset capability improvements, upgrades, and product quality systems across Hot Mills.

You are self-motivated with high initiative and energy. You will have:

  • Electrical trade qualifications or electrical engineering qualifications with practical experience.
  • Electrical supervisor or contractor license (NSW).
  • Technical experience in maintenance functions.
  • Problem solving and reliability improvement experience.
  • Commitment to safety and wellbeing.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
