Responsibilities
  • Assist the Surgeon and Nursing Staff with surgical procedures through provision, operation and maintenance of theatre equipment and positioning/preparation of patients.
  • Facilitate efficient Perioperative processes and ensure the smooth operation of Perioperative Services.
  • Ensure equipment and stock are available for Perioperative Services staff.
  • Prepare the operating theatre for surgeries, including organizing large equipment and assisting with patient transfers and positioning.
  • Maintain theatre cleanliness and assist with post‑operative tasks including disposal of waste and re‑stocking equipment.
  • Provide assistance with patient transport and safe transfers between departments as required.
Role Details
  • Provide assistance with positioning patients and equipment in theatres and prepare operating rooms.
  • Participate in the application of diathermy, calf compression devices and tourniquets as directed.
  • Collect and manage positional aids, table fittings and procedural equipment; clean and re‑stock as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance, operation and cleaning of theatre equipment and ensure theatre readiness for lists.
  • Support safe patient transport within the operating suite and to/from other locations as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualified Theatre Technician – completed a recognised Theatre Technician course.
  • Recent peri‑operative experience in a clinical setting.
  • National Criminal History Check and a valid working with children check.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong communication skills.

SVHA Immunisation Policy applies; mandatory immunisations may include COVID‑19 and influenza vaccines where applicable. Regional policy details will be provided during the recruitment process.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and use of upper limbs; occasional heavy lifting and manual handling.
  • Frequent reaching, twisting, bending and kneeling as part of perioperative tasks.
  • PPE and safety equipment as required.
