The Opportunity
Mossman State High School is seeking an experienced and passionate educational leader to step into the role of Principal.
Mossman State High School participates in the Partnership Initiative and receives prioritised support and resourcing to provide locally responsible, flexible, integrated and tailored strategies co-designed with community.
In recognition of the complexities and the critical role the Principal at Mossman State High School plays in shaping the future of its students, this position is remunerated at a Level 8 salary through the special purpose classification uplift.
The role will becomes available from 14 July, however there is an opportunity to negotiate an earlier commencement date to accommodate a handover period.
The School
Mossman State High School is located within the Department's diverse Far North Queensland education region. The school has approximately 582 students with diverse learning needs and interests across years 7 to 12. Mossman State High School is proud of its strong tradition of excellence and in teaching and caring for the students.

The Community
Mossman is located a short 20-minute drive North of the popular tourist hub Port Douglas and just over 1 ¼ hours North of Cairns.
The Kuku Yalanji people are the Indigenous inhabitants of the land. They are true rainforest people, living in complete harmony with their environment. Their traditional country extends from South of Mossman and to Cooktown in the north, and Palmer River to the west. The Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre is the destination to introduce visitors to the stunning natural beauty of the area and to learn about the rich culture of the Kuku Yalanji people.

Under the current Partnership Initiative special purpose classification uplift, this substantive Level 6 position has received a top-up to be remunerated as a Level 8. This special purpose classification level uplift arrangement is intended to retain and attract school leaders who can drive improvements in learning and life outcomes through a system wide approach within Partnership Initiative schools and their communities. Candidates who are willing to commit to a minimum of three years in the role and community will be highly regarded.
