Position Summary :

On behalf of our client, Global Skilled Employment Services is seeking a skilled Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to perform procedures such as milking, livestock care, haymaking, and fencing. The role involves applying skills to various operations with basic problem-solving and decision-making, with an understanding of dairy farm processes.

This is a full-time position that may require weekend or public holiday work and some unplanned hours, paid accordingly.

Duties and responsibilities :

  • Operate milking plant and equipment
  • Identify and report equipment issues
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Read and record instrument data (e.g., milk vat temperatures, cow numbers)
  • Follow safe working principles
  • Perform multiple functions to produce quality outcomes (e.g., farm machinery operation)
  • Maintain and adjust machinery
  • Solve problems and make decisions within guidelines
  • Assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, fertiliser mix design, using scientific terminology
  • Operate measuring equipment and computerized systems
  • Contribute to team efforts and work independently when needed
