The role:
Jump into your new career with Midwifery at John Hunter Hospital Affectionately known as "The Mothership", John Hunter Hospital is the centralised point for a wide range of maternity and birthing services. It is the leading health facility in Newcastle and supports all levels of complex midwifery and birthing services. As one of our new graduate Midwives, you will rotate through our entire service to get a feel for the different aspects of midwifery including birthing suites, postnatal, antenatal care and midwifery group practice. You will get to undertake the entire scope of practice for a midwife, enjoying the ability to gain hands-on experience in all facets of midwifery.

You won't be working alone. Education and ongoing training are pillars of this position, and you will be provided support by the senior Midwives, the Midwifery Unit Managers (MUM's), and the Team Leader. There are core education teams in each area which provide targeted, appropriate education as well as set study days to help you work towards your career goals.   • Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA

  • An eligibility list will be created for future temporary full or part-time vacancies.
  • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. This is a Category A position.
