We are looking for an individual with in-depth knowledge of technical work processes and practical skills required for full technical field work.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Technical Team Leaders (TTLs) to ensure team members receive appropriate training and develop the necessary skills to carry out technical field work in line with quality standards.

Additionally, we require someone with a sound understanding of resilience requirements and skills necessary for disease outbreak and emergency operations within a relevant organization.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing functional leadership to Animal Health Officers (AHOs);
  • Providing technical advice and support to AHOs;
  • Ensuring quality and accuracy of work by AHOs, including adherence to Health and Safety procedures;
  • Conducting quality assurance activities to identify training needs for AHOs;
  • Ensuring AHOs are appropriately trained and maintain skills according to APHA policies;
  • Liaising with local TTLs to manage equipment requirements;

The candidate will also support our Operational Readiness Manager (ORM), approximately 20% of their time, in:

  • Developing outbreak and emergency response readiness plans;
  • Implementing disease outbreak responses;
  • Ensuring local managers demonstrate readiness for exotic notifiable disease outbreaks;
  • Sharing best practices within the GB Resilience & Technical Advisor network to ensure consistency across APHA.
