About the Position
The Senior Support Worker will work closely with our Service Leader/Senior Operations Manager to provide support with people living with complex trauma and psycho-social challenges and needs aligned with their individual program plan.
You will assist in overseeing the operations of our residential properties with the support of the Service Leader/Senior Operations Manager, to ensure effective and efficient service delivery. The position will support the team through role modeling, coaching, and supervision. Your expertise and leadership will ensure that our clients receive the best possible care.
Working with external care teams and families, the role is responsible for providing high-quality, responsive, and person-centered support to assist participants in enhancing their everyday living skills, gaining access and participation in the community to achieve their goals, and enhancing their quality of life and physical and mental health.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with our Service Leader/Senior Operations Manager to help manage and facilitate the day-to-day operations of our Vertical Village.
- Provide support with daily living skills and community activities to meet individual needs of our participants, which may include but are not limited to housekeeping, personal hygiene, administering medication, and transportation to appointments and community activities.
- Keep up to date with participants' needs and care plans, including changes to participants' care needs.
- Facilitate community inclusion and participation, dependent on individual needs, abilities, and preferences, and support participants to establish and maintain relationships and interests through access to community activities and services.
- Must be flexible to work AM and PM shifts, based on a 24/7 rotating roster - including weekends and holidays.
- Work with the participant's clinical team, attend training, and regular updates to ensure all treatment plans are met and implemented to a high standard of care.
- Guide and support a team of mental health support workers.
About You
- You will thrive and succeed in our team by bringing the following experience to this position:
- Qualification or Certificate in disability, mental health, or related fields.
- You are passionate about supporting participants to engage in meaningful activities, including community participation.
- 3+ years' experience working with people with complex mental illness providing behavioral support.
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with high needs.
- Experience mentoring and coaching support workers is desirable.
- A clear understanding of professional boundaries and restrictive practices.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, and under pressure.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to write clear case notes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate as part of a diverse team and work autonomously.
