Role Summary

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Asia Pacific (APAC) regional Audit Services Team, responsible for the oversight and execution of internal audit engagements, including planning, developing the audit scope, maintaining the budget and timeframes of the project to meet audit requirements, preparing reports and ensuring department standards are properly met.

The role reports directly to the Head of Audit Services, APAC, with a dotted line to the Director, Global IT Audit.

This role provides input to improve operational efficiency and enhance the design or operating effectiveness of the internal control environment. It offers technical expertise, focusing on Operational Resilience, Business Continuity Management, and Information Security, and involves hands-on work as well as supervisory responsibilities such as training, reviewing work, and providing feedback.

You will be an integral part of the APAC Audit Services team, interacting with local, regional, and global management. This is an exciting opportunity to work on assignments that meet regulatory requirements across the APAC region.

The role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead audits, staff audits, and provide oversight or consulting based on team needs.
  • Coordinate with the global technology audit team on risk identification and audit execution in line with the audit plan.
  • Manage internal audit projects related to Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, IT General Controls, Information Security, and other audits.
  • Provide technical expertise and ensure sound audit practices.
  • Maintain familiarity with the business units, including structure, personnel, activities, products, and risks.
  • Stay current on industry regulations, especially in the APAC region, and design audit engagements accordingly.
  • Engage with senior management to understand risks and significant business changes.
  • Participate in senior committees and meetings, and present to audit and risk committees as required.
  • Communicate with external auditors and regional risk committees to support ongoing monitoring.
  • Manage special projects and discuss audit results with business units.
  • Develop and present recommendations on operations and controls.
  • Assign work to auditors, set priorities, and monitor activities during audits.
  • Review audit work papers, findings, and reports to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Evaluate corporate management and controls during audits and consulting engagements.
  • Use analytical skills to identify potential control weaknesses.

About You

  • Extensive experience auditing against regulatory requirements related to Business Resiliency and Information Security in the financial services industry in Australia and/or APAC, e.g., APRA CPS 230, CPS 234, MAS guidelines.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks such as NIST CSF, FFIEC, GDPR.
  • Professional certifications like IIA, CPA, CA, CISA, CISSP, CCSP.
  • Strong communication, analytical, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • A college or university degree is preferred.
