Responsibilities
  • The purpose of this role is to provide design, implementation and support in order to drive excellence, quality and performance for an IT service, across one or multiple portfolios.
  • The Network Security Engineering team is responsible for delivering network security requirements and implementation to achieve business outcomes.
  • The GTS Networks team is responsible for delivering, supporting and continuously improving the Bank's Global Network and Security services.
  • Our Global Technology Services (GTS) products and services are leveraged across all Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software including: CommBank App, Netbank, CommSee, CommSec, CommBiz and
  • Lead efforts to embed security best practices across infrastructure and deployment workflows; act as a technical mentor for platform engineering standards and architecture.
  • Perform security assessments across platform components and manage escalated issues, incidents & problems for network and security services.

  • Is an expert at the Full Cycle model, where engineers are involved in Design, Build, Change, and Run.
  • Has a passion for designing, developing, deploying and running high quality modern solutions.
  • Contributes to a culture where quality, inclusiveness and excellence are championed.
  • Has experience in leading security practices across infrastructure and deployment workflows.
  • Acts as a technical mentor and thought leader for platform engineering standards and architecture.
  • Has experience performing security assessments across platform components.
  • Demonstrates ability to educate, communicate and positively influence stakeholders, including executives.
Technical Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. Experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will help you succeed in this team:

  • F5 BIG-IP, F5OS, LTM, DNS modules and iRule development
  • Strong TCP/HTTP understanding for packet inspection and TCP flow in network and application paths
  • Networking concepts, routing and switching; firewall security policy management
  • Network automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC), CI/CD, DevSecOps
  • DevSecOps tools (e.g., Ansible, Python, Terraform, GitHub, IaC, APIs)
  • Source control (GitHub, GitLab)
  • AWS services (Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, Serverless, Step Functions) or similar
  • CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Jenkins/TeamCity or similar
  • Discovery and validation of network connectivity with enterprise tools (Observe, Splunk, SolarWinds, Qualys, Grafana)
  • Documentation of existing infrastructure services to inform roadmaps
