Junior School Learning Support Coordinator

Innovative and energetic Christian educators are invited to apply for the position of Junior School Learning Support Coordinator. This is a full-time position commencing in 2026, reporting to the Head of Junior School. The Learning Support Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and management of the Junior School Learning Support team.

The successful applicant will be able to:

• Lead the development of innovative learning and teaching programs, for students with additional needs, in line with Shire's Learning for Life framework, using comprehensive knowledge of curriculum, assessment, pedagogy and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with teachers to modify learning programs to meet the learning needs of students.
• Lead through a current knowledge of processes and procedures relating to the diverse needs of students: disability issues, verification, educational programs, diagnostic testing, and data collection.
• Coordinate the ongoing and accurate testing, monitoring and assessment of students with additional learning needs as required, referring students for further assessment in a timely and efficient manner.
• Analyse and report testing results and other data to inform the development of exceptional learning programs for students in Learning Support
• Manage, professionally support and appraise the Teachers and Aides in the Learning Support team.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management strategies.
• Design and implement lessons to inspire curiosity and critical thinking across KLAs.
• Perceive the needs of individual students and take realistic steps to meet those needs.
• Differentiate learning to support all learners.
• Engage warmly and constructively with parents.
• Embed a Biblical perspective into the curriculum.
• Provide timely and transformative feedback to students.
• Confidently integrate ICT to enhance learning outcomes.
• Work collaboratively and productively with their colleagues across the wider Junior School community.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Master of Special Education or other formal qualifications directly relevant to the position would be an advantage.
• Rich current knowledge of research and best practice around Special Needs Education.
• Experience using MultiLit and MacqLit preferred.
• Experience using JEMM or JEMM+ mathematics programs.
