Transformational Opportunity - New Structure, New Focus, Broad Scope

As Director Structures Planning and Delivery, you will lead the restructured Directorate within the Structures Division, collaborating with peers to elevate Structures' profile and contribute to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), industry, and Queensland's community. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Engineer Structures, your role will involve providing expert advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders on planning, design, and construction of structural engineering projects.

You will shape and improve outcomes across the transport network through your vision, leadership, and strategic direction. Your responsibilities include overseeing the delivery of structural design and engineering projects, ensuring efficient review processes, supporting construction activities, fostering innovation, developing technical standards, influencing investment decisions, and integrating digital engineering practices focused on asset management.

As an executive leader, you will manage a team of structural engineers and technical officers to deliver customer-focused services and authoritative engineering advice. Your team will handle all lifecycle stages of structures—from planning and design to maintenance and rehabilitation—embracing accountability, stakeholder engagement, industry collaboration, and continuous innovation to achieve optimal results.

Your Leadership and Technical Expertise in Structures

Your leadership philosophy emphasizes engagement, collaboration, trust-building, and continuous improvement. With a strong background in bridge and transport structure design and extensive experience in technical and professional leadership, you will lead teams to meet service delivery expectations and uphold high standards of engineering excellence.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

  • Possession of a Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering (Structural or Civil) or equivalent recognized by Engineers Australia.
  • Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) in Structural Engineering.
