About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical Scientist to join our Chemical Pathology team to coordinate and supervise the technical and operational aspects of Complex Biochemistry and Point of Care Testing. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced pathology service that plays a critical role in patient care.

In this role, you will work with the Principal Scientist to provide high-level technical expertise and leadership in the delivery, development, and quality assurance of biochemistry and POCT services. You will support continuous improvement in laboratory performance, provide mentorship to junior staff, and contribute to innovation in testing methodologies and technologies.

About you

To be successful in this role you will :

Have completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Laboratory Medicine) or equivalentHave a minimum of 8 years' experience in Chemical PathologyHighly developed interpersonal and leadership experienceA strong commitment to high quality careThe ability to work as part of a diverse teamExcellent communication and organisational skillsBe able to supervise and work as part of a diverse team of staff and studentsExperience with POCT implementation and oversight is highly desirableExperience with protein electrophoresis testing and reporting is highly desirable

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
