Role Responsibilities :

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, this role requires a mature and professional approach with excellent communication skills. Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Learning the skills required to be part of the Workshop team under supervision
2. Performing minor repairs and servicing of vehicles and equipment promptly, within your skill level and experience, under supervision
3. Entering into a 4-year training contract within a secure employment environment, undertaking a nationally recognized training program
4. Completing all units of the apprenticeship to the required standards and within the designated timeframes
5. Attending all required TAFE classes with guidance from mentors, supervisors, and teachers
6. Adhering to all Work, Health & Safety requirements during work duties

You will have the opportunity to :

1. Work alongside trade-qualified staff to assist the team in daily operations while learning a trade
2. Assist in maintaining a fleet of vehicles, including the latest models and technology
3. Receive comprehensive 'on the job' training from experienced mentors, along with support from TAFE lecturers
4. Build a secure, recession-proof career in a high-demand industry

As a Busways employee, you will :

1. Receive a competitive hourly rate above current Modern Award rates, with special rates for Adult Apprentices
2. Get a weekly Tool Allowance to assist with toolbox expenses
3. Receive an Attendance Allowance of $16 per day in addition to hourly rates
4. Be provided with work uniforms and PPE
5. Have opportunities for growth, development, and additional responsibilities
6. Work overtime if required, paid at penalty rates
7. Potentially upgrade from a car license to an MR license in the 4th year, with costs covered by the company
8. Work on various vehicles, including Euro 5 & 6 technologies

Eligibility Criteria :

To be considered, you must :

1. Have completed School Certificate or Higher School Certificate
2. Possess good Mathematics, Science, and English skills
3. Demonstrate a strong work ethic: reliable, punctual, honest, and committed to your trade
4. Have a genuine interest in the automotive industry
5. Possess good communication skills
6. Prioritize safety in the workplace
7. Maintain a positive attitude, be self-motivated, conscientious, and eager to learn
8. Be able to follow directions and show initiative in a fast-paced environment
9. Hold a current driver's license or be able to obtain one upon meeting eligibility requirements
10. Be a Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen
