Training and Compliance Officer
AFRA - the Australian Furniture Removers Association - has provided advocacy, compliance, training, and education to the Australian furniture removals industry for more than 30 years. We work with other associations and peak bodies, government departments, and the media. Our members operate right across Australia and range in size from small family businesses to international companies. We also work with a select number of national and international industry suppliers.
ABOUT THE ROLE
A rare opportunity to come on board with a National Association in a Training and Compliance Role. We seek a vibrant individual with excellent research and drafting skills. This position would suit an early career or recent legal, business, or HR graduate, although mid to late career applicants are welcome. We are more interested in your research and writing skills rather than industry knowledge.
In this role you will:
- Create, develop, and implement new training and educational materials and courses.
- Update and monitor existing training and educational materials and courses.
- Develop content for video training, and work with a videographer on the project.
- Complete current training project in cooperation with the HVNR.
- Maintain, update, and create compliance materials used by our members.
- Alert members to new compliance or regulatory requirements relevant to our members and our industry.
- Alert members to new funding opportunities relevant to training, recruitment, or retention of staff.
- Participate in relevant committees and industry groups.
- Continue to monitor and source potential funding for new training initiatives, including applications for grants relative to our industry. Participate in the process of the grant schedule as required.
- Be able to present to members at the national conference on training matters.
- Maintain and operate Association's training portal and database.
- Maintain and operate Association's compliance audit digital program.
- Coordinate and undertake member compliance audits.
- Drive the digitalization of existing hard copy compliance procedures.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to facilitate strong and positive membership engagement.
- Provide support to other team members including answering calls, responding to emails, reviewing submissions, and other inquiries.
CAREER GROWTH
Our Association works hard to support both our members - including through compliance and educational resources, legal support, lobbying, promotion, and dispute resolution - and the removals industry more broadly. This opportunity to work at AFRA includes working directly with state and federal ministers, RTOs and Jobs and Skills Councils, the HVNR, government committees, and integrally with other associations in our industry.
AFRA hopes to grow this role and expand our training offering. There is significant potential to develop this role and increase salary commensurately.
Must have:
- Ability to work in a small team
- Proven drafting ability essential
- Ability to understand primary materials - legislation, government directives, and codes
- We are a Microsoft Office environment, and good knowledge of Word, SharePoint, Teams, etc., are essential
- Strong computer literacy generally
- Be prepared to undertake some travel as required and negotiated
Preferred:
- Good understanding of HVNL
- Good understanding of CoR
- Experience in compliance, particularly in the transport sector
- Proven ability in drafting training and compliance documents
- Experience in securing training grants
We have a hybrid working model working both from home and in the office on set days each week, so a person local to Castle Hill is preferred. Part-time work is negotiable for the right candidate. Salary is negotiable for the right candidate.
Christmas/New Year close annually.
