An exclusive opportunity is currently available for qualified Psychiatrists to join Maitland Private Hospital's newly expanded and dedicated 68 bed mental health services team – The Barrington Clinic.

Maitland Private Hospital is a world-class healthcare facility located in East Maitland, only 30 minutes' drive from Newcastle CBD. The hospital is renowned for providing exceptional patient care, state-of-the-art medical technology, and a warm, welcoming environment for patients and their families. The hospital encompasses 188 beds, 6 operating theatres, 10 bed ICU, 12 chair medical oncology unit, and associated rehabilitation, medical, surgical, mental health, and consulting services.
About the role:
There is currently an opportunity for a qualified psychiatrist to join the experienced team at Maitland Private Hospital's Barrington Clinic. Working as part of a team of committed, experienced, and supportive mental health specialists, the successful candidate will join our VMO Psychiatrists in providing outcomes focused, patient-centered care for the Maitland community. The role will primarily support our in-patient service, as our hospital continues growth following the recent expansion of the facility. The Barrington Clinic's team includes an extensive suite of Allied Health Professionals, psychologists, nursing staff, full time medical officer coverage, and after-hours intensive care support. The role also includes private practice opportunities should they be of interest, in which the hospital provides clerical staff support and consulting rooms at no additional cost.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain current unrestricted registration as a Psychiatrist with RANZCP & AHPRA
- Experience in mood disorder, substance use/alcohol and addiction psychiatry care that supports a recovery approach to care.
- Demonstrate experience in the provision of client centred and non-judgemental therapy
- Ensure you continue to meet your minimum requirements for psychiatry registration with RANZCP
- A knowledge of major types of treatments, therapies and targeted interventions and their contributions to recovery-oriented service delivery approaches and be willing to adapt to our model of therapy
- Showcase behaviours that support recovery, addiction and or alcohol use in relation to mental ill-health
- Lead through a communication style that shows respect for consumers and their families/carers, and an ability to manage relationships so they will facilitate recovery
- An awareness of issues relating to cultural diversity, and how these may influence service choices and delivery
- A knowledge and ability to facilitate consumer and family/carer participation in all levels of care within the service.
