As a Therapeutic Youth Worker at Mac Killop, you will play a vital and rewarding role in delivering high-quality therapeutic support to vulnerable children and young people.
You will be responsible for addressing their emotional, social, and behavioural needs within their home and the community.
Working closely with the House Manager, Coordinator, Case Worker, Therapeutic Specialist, and other dedicated Mac Killop professionals, you will provide therapeutic care to support young people on their healing journey.This role primarily focuses on supporting young people with high and complex needs who cannot be accommodated in foster care.
These young people often face challenges related to mental health, disability, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour, which may present risks to themselves and others around them.About YouTo thrive in this role, we are looking for individuals who possess the following qualities:Motivation, passion, and resilience to work with Young PeopleAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and think on your feetAvailability to work a variety of shifts including sleepovers and active nightsPositive and friendly attitudeExcellent communication skills, written and verbalKey Selection Criteria:To excel in this role, you should possess the following:Proven ability to work therapeutically with young people facing social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, as well as those who have experienced significant trauma and adversity.Track record of following case plans, behaviour support plans, and safety plans for young people with complex needs, including challenging behaviour.Ability to role model and reinforce positive behaviour through social learning, social responsibility, and emotional intelligence.Assist young people to develop independent living and life skills.Contribute to the development, implementation and review of individual plans that support the emotional, social, and behavioural needs of young people.Provide services that are sensitive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD young people and their families.Please address the full Key Selection Criteria outlined in the PD as part of your application.Our offerHourly Rate of $37.35 to $40.05 as outlined in the SCHADS Award Level 3, dependent on qualification and experience.Salary packaging - we can help you to maximize your salary packaging up to $18,550 per year, which allows you to reduce the amount of tax you pay.Paid Training that is industry specific including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Sanctuary and Cultural Awareness training.Fitness Passport - which is a discounted workplace health and fitness program available to you and your family.Employee Assistance Program - Free access to a wide range of options with all aspects of life such as social, financial, physical, mental health by providing counselling and coaching supporting relating both to your circumstance, even including health advice from qualified nutritionists.Supportive Environment - Monthly supportive meetings with your direct manager.Sanctuary Organisation - Mac Killop's work is underpinned by the Sanctuary Model, an evidence-supported, whole of organisation framework that brings our values to life.
