We are now looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Townsville office.

About the role As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of delivering practical, future-focused engineering solutions across a diverse project landscape.
From early concept through to construction completion, you'll lead design delivery, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and shape real-world outcomes that enhance our built environment.
This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same, blending technical challenge, project leadership, client engagement, and mentorship.
In this role, you will: Take ownership of civil engineering projects from feasibility to final delivery Prepare Civil DA reports and stormwater management plans that balance innovation with compliance Design a variety of infrastructure elements including roads, intersections, pavements, earthworks, and drainage systems Oversee construction phase activities including site inspections, contractor coordination, and contract administration Lead the development of high-quality tender and construction documentation Coordinate across internal disciplines and external consultants to deliver fully integrated outcomes Manage project budgets and ensure alignment with quality, safety, and performance standards You will also: Conduct site investigations and technical assessments to shape project strategy Review and sign off on design documentation prior to council or authority lodgement Act as a key liaison with architects, developers, contractors, and regulatory bodies Influence design reviews, risk workshops, and strategic project planning Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, templates, and workflows Mentor and support junior engineers to grow technical depth and confidence About you We are looking for an experienced, technically strong, and well-rounded engineer with a passion for quality and teamwork.
You will ideally have: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (essential) 10+ years of experience in civil engineering design and consultancy Strong capability in stormwater, flood modelling, and pavement design Working knowledge of 12 D, Auto CAD, DRAINS, MUSIC, XPStorm (not essential) Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Proven ability to manage projects, stakeholders, and timelines Knowledge of Australian Standards, planning frameworks, and engineering codes Ability to lead, mentor and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team Must have Australian work rights Business development and client liaison experience (advantageous) At STP, our values -Potential, Respect, Integrity, Deliver, and Engage , are the foundation of our culture.
