The Position We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Psychiatrists to join a large Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service in Far North Queensland.
Psychiatrists of all specialties are encouraged to apply, with particular interest in Child and Youth Psychiatry and Rural / Remote Mental Health.
These are permanent, full-time positions offering the opportunity to make a real impact across diverse communities.

Health Service This Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides public mental health care across a vast catchment area—from Tully in the south, to the Torres Strait Islands in the north, and west to Croydon.
The region services a population of approximately 275,000 people, including a significant proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The service is based in Cairns, but outreach spans rural and remote locations.

Essential Criteria Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or international equivalent Eligibility for AHPRA Specialist Registration in Psychiatry Expertise in any subspecialty, with priority given to Child & Youth Psychiatry and Rural / Remote Mental Health Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care across diverse communities Strong communication skills and cultural competence, particularly in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples The Package Attractive salary package, with annual incremental increases Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contributions Salary packaging options to maximise take-home pay Professional development leave and allowances Relocation assistance and incentives for eligible applicants Locality allowance for work in remote areas Minimum 4 weeks annual leave plus long service leave entitlements Flexible working arrangements to support work–life balance
