Principal Etrading Software Engineer – Electronic Interest Rate Swaps

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role that demands deep expertise in Java, distributed systems, and financial market technologies, particularly in the fixed income and IRS trading domain.
You will be responsible for architecting and scaling mission-critical components including RFQ workflows, pricing integration, trade execution logic, and dealer UIs.
This role offers the opportunity to lead cutting-edge trading system development in partnership with quants, traders, and technologists at a top-tier investment bank.
Lead development of the e IRS in-house application for electronic trading of IRS products such as outrights, flys, spreads, etc.
Architect and implement RFQ state machines, pricing event wiring, and override messaging logic to enable the application.
Deliver full support for voice trading workflows, including integration with Markit Wire SWML for Straight Through Processing (STP).
Drive industrialization of the e IRS engine, managing timing issues and race conditions.
Collaborate with quant teams to integrate core pricing models for short-end curve instruments and relative value analytics (Z-score, Carry & Roll, XCCY RV).
Publish trade and curve data to IDAP for analytics and dealer UI exposure.
Lead engineering decisions on nested feeder curve implementations (C++ x Curves vs server-side builds).
Mentor engineers across UI, platform, and backend domains to ensure delivery quality and velocity.
Technical Skills Deep expertise in Java (8 / 17), Spring Boot, and distributed systems architecture.
Experience with IRS market platforms such as Tradeweb and Markit Wire.
Strong understanding of IRS instruments, pricing conventions, and swap templates.
Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, Redis, SNS, SQS), Kafka / Event Hub, Dev Sec Ops / CI / CD technologies, as well as modern SRE practices.
Experience with Agentic AI to assist engineering efforts.
Knowledge of quant libraries and risk analytics integration.
SSL standard for secure encrypted communications.
