About the Role Be part of the Strategy & Market Intelligence team (within Portfolio Strategy and Development) with a focus on shaping BHP's strategy and portfolio and optimising the use of capital to maintain a strong balance sheet, strengthen shareholder relationships and grow competitive advantage.
Reporting to the Head of Commodity Strategy, you will play a key role in developing BHP's strategy in Copper, Potash and Uranium, leading industry analysis and Commodity Price Protocol (CPP) work, leading Commodity and Asset Strategies and a broad range of other strategic initiatives.
This position will be based in a BHP Office either in Adelaide, Brisbane or Melbourne.
There is potential for domestic and international travel with this position.
This is a full-time position; however, flexible work options are available.
The Lead Principal role within Portfolio Strategy is a role in which you will: Understand BHP's sources of competitive advantage in order to support the development of differentiated strategic decisions.
Scan, monitor and analyse the external market environment for trends shaping the global economy and commodities that could be sources of opportunity or risk to BHP's strategic positioning, relative to its peers.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the value chains in BHP's target commodities, and the strategic position and developments of competitors.
Employ innovation, analytical skills and critical thinking to generate ideas, and identify and develop opportunities to create value.
Engage in compelling strategic dialogue with senior leaders to effectively communicate complex ideas and recommendations to drive decisions.
Optimise risk and reward based on an understanding of value drivers underpinning all processes, decisions, strategies and plans within BHP.
Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
About You Relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, economics, law, engineering or science (or related disciplines).
Experience in mining or natural resources value chain, particularly base metals, will be highly regarded.
Consulting experience highly regarded.
Comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity to drive risk and value-based decision making.
Strong analytical skills, specifically translating multiple sources of information into value and recommending a course of action.
Effective communication skills with experience preparing for, writing, and presenting to Senior Management and Business leaders.
Experience reviewing and understanding multi-disciplinary reports/documents and communicating key outcomes and takeaways.
Excellent Project Management skills.
Capable of operating both independently and collaboratively in projects involving multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
Leadership experience with small multidisciplinary teams or project teams.
This is a Monday to Friday position, requiring regular office attendance for at least three days per week.
