The successful candidate must be willing to work collaboratively with the business and C-Suite.Job DescriptionAs Legal Counsel, you will be involved in a variety of legal matters, including but not limited to:Regulatory Work: Working closely with our compliance team to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, particularly with ASIC.
A solid understanding of Australian and New Zealand regulatory frameworks is key.Corporate & Commercial Work: A strong background in Financial Services, M&A or Corporate Law to support commercial property, procurement, leases, acquisitions, and finance matters.IP and Marketing: Support marketing teams as required, while most IP work is managed by an in-house IP expert.Human Resources: Assist with HR-related legal issues.Acquisitions: Involvement in ongoing acquisitions, including franchise law matters.Dual-Qualified Consideration: Preference for Australian-qualified candidates, but foreign-qualified lawyers, especially those with UK qualifications, who are willing to get dual-qualified, are also considered.This role requires someone who is comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a focus on process-building.
As our Legal Counsel, you will be part of a small, yet effective team supporting a large client base.The benefit is that despite being active overseas, you are not expected to work anti-social hours (i.e.
after 6pm).The Successful Applicant6-8 years of post-qualification experience; in-house experience preferred but secondments will also be considered.
Those with M&A or Corporate Law backgrounds are highly interesting.Familiarity with ASIC regulations and the financial services regulatory landscape is beneficial, but other legal exposure areas are also considered.Experience with procurement, commercial property, acquisitions, leases, and finance is advantageous.Preference for Australian qualifications, but UK-qualified lawyers or foreign-qualified candidates with a willingness to dual-qualify are encouraged to apply.Team-Oriented: Ability to collaborate effectively with the team and respect a non-competitive, supportive culture.And You Strong Team Player: Ability to work well in a small team where respect is key, and competition is not part of the culture.Comfortable with Ambiguity: Adaptability to navigate ambiguity as the client builds new processes and structures.Efficiency-Focused: Excited about improving and streamlining legal processes while reducing external spend.Client-Centric: Comfortable in a business-facing capacity while providing high-quality legal advice to a large client base.What's on OfferLocation: Perth CBD.For the first 3 months, the expectation is to be on-site five days each week.
Thereafter, home working days can be negotiated.Flexibility is offered, allowing for early or late starts and adjustments around other responsibilities.
