About the role
Catherine's House at Mater South Brisbane, is seeking a dedicated Infant Mental Health Clinician to join our team on a Maximum Term contract, working 32 hours per week until February 2026.
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Allied Health Professionals who have experience within infant mental health.

Catherine's House (CHMBU) is a world-class, perinatal, and infant mental health integrated model of care, providing both inpatient and outpatient services to public and private consumers.

The Senior Infant Mental Health Clinician role is situated within the Allied Health Inpatient Team but is a key resource for Infant Mental Health leadership and consultation for all of the services of Catherines House.
The inpatient unit is a state-wide unit that provides acute infant and perinatal mental health assessment and treatment to mothers with significant mental illnesses who are co-admitted with their baby under one year old.
There are 8 public beds and 2 private beds, with 2 of these beds having capacity to be a high dependency unit.

The outpatient services provide a range of mental health interventions in the perinatal period to mothers, mother baby dyad and families with mild to moderate mental illnesses as well as community parenting programs.
Catherine's House also has specialist consulting suites, with clinicians having the option to lease rooms on a sessional basis as a private practitioner.

This is a new senior position (infant mental health) with an initial focus in the Mother Baby Unit, and the position will work closely with the Team Leader, Nurse Unit Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist as part of the leadership group.
The Senior Infant Mental Health Clinician will provide expert clinical consultancy and take a lead role in the promotion of contemporary mental health practice, with a particular focus on infant and perinatal mental health.
The Infant Mental Health Clinician will be actively involved in research, education and continuous quality improvement and facilitate the development of mental health services across the continuum of care.
Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits
What you'll be doing
The role involves but is not limited to:

Deliver high level professional clinical mental health services to infants at risk of severe and complex mental health, and their carer network
Provide evidence-based group and individual interventions within a mother and baby unit
Demonstrate expertise in infant and perinatal mental health
Contribute to the development of best practice mental health services
Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Establish referral options and facilitate access to infant mental health services
Contribute to quality improvement and research within the organisation
Provide clinical supervision and support professional development
Act as a change agent for integrating new concepts into clinical practice
Ensure delegated responsibilities and key performance indicators are achieved within agreed timeframes

About you

Demonstrated experience in infant mental health is mandatory
Relevant qualification within discipline
Experience in provision of clinical supervision mandatory
Demonstrated experience in providing clinical services for complex presentations involving infants and caregivers
Strong in communication, problem-solving, and innovation within service delivery
Able to work independently in infant mental health practice
Skilled in initiating, monitoring, and evaluating service initiatives
Proficient in advanced clinical practice and patient-centred care in acute mental health settings
Experienced in multi-disciplinary teamwork and establishing key relationships
Committed to professional development, quality improvement, and potential clinical research
