About the role Reporting to the National Manager Media and Communications, you will be an integral part of a national team responsible for creating high-quality, engaging content across various media and communication channels, as well as providing strategic advice on internal and external communications and reputation management.
The role requires creativity, innovation, and flair to develop, edit, and discover content that resonates with targeted audiences.
Additionally, you will support various projects and initiatives across the University.
Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging content that highlights the University's stories, successes, and achievements.
This includes developing communication strategies, organizing initiatives, planning events or press conferences, liaising with media, and handling interview requests and statements.
Provide strategic advice on communication issues, emerging technologies, and opportunities.
Identify opportunities for improvement and innovative storytelling to broaden audience reach.
Contribute creative ideas to enhance media and communication activities.
Collaborate with university colleagues to improve communication strategies and identify new opportunities for engagement and publication.
Build and maintain relationships with mainstream media and key publications to promote university stories.
Coordinate with stakeholders to research and craft engaging stories across various channels.
Manage projects efficiently to meet deadlines.
Work as part of a high-performing team to develop and implement a comprehensive media and communication plan aligned with the university's strategic goals, including KPIs.
Implement best practices and systems to support strategy delivery and KPI achievement.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Degree in media, publishing, communications, or relevant experience/training.
Experience in media and journalism; higher education sector experience is preferred.
Strong influencing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly.
Self-motivated with initiative to lead projects independently.
Excellent understanding of media, publishing, and communications professions.
Proficiency in high-level writing, video production, design, and publishing across multiple platforms.
Strong IT skills, including MS Office and videoconferencing tools.
Relationship-building skills to maintain key stakeholder relationships.
Problem-solving and creative thinking capabilities.
Strong planning and organizational skills to manage multiple events and meet deadlines.
