About the role
The lecturer's primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements.
Lecturers also undertake Professional Activities and Activities Related to Delivery.
In order to maintain quality educational services, lecturers are required to keep abreast of technological and other developments in their field through professional development to provide up-to-date information and advice to the College and industry, where appropriate.
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate their competency and currency directly related to the Skills for Study module selected (Study and Work, Language Literacy Numeracy and Digital Skills and Vocational Skills).
This must be documented as part of the lecturer's Trainer and Assessor Competency Matrix (TACM).
The Skills for Study lecturer responsible for delivering modules in the Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills (LLND) stream must also hold:

a primary or secondary teaching degree which enables registration with the WA Teachers Registration Board.

or

a post graduate specialisation in the following:

Master of Education (TESOL)
Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice
Other post-graduate LLND specialisation as deemed suitable by Quality Managers.

The successful applicant will also have at least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience relevant to this position with an ability to facilitate and encourage learning.
There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 (Standards), or its successors.
The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or TAE40116 or TAE40110) or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011 or TAESS00019 or TAESS00024).
Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however NM TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.
To work for the College, you may be required to hold Australian or Australian equivalent qualification(s).
If your qualification has been obtained overseas, the Overseas Qualifications Unit (OQU) offers a free assessment service to have your tertiary or higher education qualification(s) recognised.

Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance.
If this position involves contact with children, the recommended occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card.
To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).
Should a position become available that is to cover maternity leave, please note that under the employment requirements for maternity leave, there is provision for end of contract with 4 weeks' notice upon early return to work of substantive occupant.
Likewise, should the substantive occupant wish to extend their maternity leave or return on a part time basis, the College may seek to extend your contract, and with your agreement at an FTE to be negotiated.
