Who We Need We're looking for a talented and driven Lawyer to join our high-performing Litigation team in North Sydney.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your technical expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment, working alongside some of the most experienced IP professionals in the industry.
In this role, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of contentious and advisory matters across a broad spectrum of intellectual property, including patents, designs, trade marks, copyright, misleading and deceptive conduct, passing off, and confidential information.
You'll benefit from close mentoring and training from senior members of the team, ensuring continued growth and development.
This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with 2–3 years of post-admission experience who is looking to deepen their skills and experience in IP law within a dynamic and forward-thinking firm.
Key Responsibilities Technical Expertise Drafting cease and desist letters, pre-litigation correspondence and engaging in settlement negotiations.
Assisting with intellectual property litigation, including drafting pleadings, preparing evidence and submission.
Assisting with patent oppositions, trade mark oppositions and non-use removal proceedings hearings before IP Australia, including preparing evidence and submissions.
Advising in relation to IP entitlement and IP ownership dispute resolution Managing enforcement and anti-counterfeiting campaigns.
Filing Customs Notices with the Australian Border Force and conducting brand protection training for Customs officers.
Drafting a range of intellectual property agreements, including assignments, settlement agreements, licence agreements and co-existence agreements.
Client Relationship Management Establish good rapport with clients by responding professionally and promptly to queries and requests.
Take every opportunity to grow own understanding of the client's business and commercial goals.
Ability to manage complex litigation processes, manage matter tasks and court deadlines Accurately record all billable and non-billable time and manage work in progress (WIP).
Maintain a good understanding of own progress against individual and team financial targets and actively communicate workload and capacity to supervisor and other senior members of group.
Seeks to learn more about business drivers and effective practice management.
Marketing & Business Development Play a role in marketing and business development activities e.g.
write articles for Griffith Hack's website, attend industry events About You Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Laws (combined degree preferred).
Admitted to practice in Australia.
2–3 years' post-admission experience, ideally with exposure to IP.
Skills & Attributes Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong analytical and research skills.
Good time management skills - ability to prioritise and manage competing priorities.
Ability to build strong relationships with a range of people.
