Our Graduate Program provides an excellent opportunity for recent law graduates to gain hands-on experience and learn from Partners renowned in their legal fields.
The program will allow you to rotate across multiple teams to discover the areas of law you are most passionate about.
You will be included in our CPD and Young Lawyer learning programs enabling you to develop a range of skills as you embark on your legal career.
Main duties and responsibilities Conduct legal research using various resources Prepare legal documents, including contracts, briefs, motions, and other legal correspondence Assist lawyers in preparing for hearings, trials, and client meetings, including organising evidence, maintaining case files, and contributing to case strategy discussions Interact with clients professionally, providing updates on case progress and responding to their inquiries Attend court hearings, administrative proceedings, and other legal events to observe proceedings and assist as required Stay up to date with legal developments, trends, and changes in legislation to enhance your legal acumen and contribute to the firm's continuous improvement Ensure all work adheres to ethical standards, legal regulations, and the Rigby Cooke's policies and procedures Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless workflow and contribute to a positive work environment Skills required We welcome applications from graduates who have: Academic excellence Ability to articulate ideas clearly Strong desire to build relationships and deliver outstanding service Strong sense of business awareness and a keen commercial insight Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent attention to detail Technological competency A taster of our benefits Access to a range of learning and development opportunities Support and mentoring Collaborative working environment Health and wellbeing initiatives Experience working with clients alongside well-established lawyers Employee assistance program Social & networking activities Excellent CBD location, with good transport links Salary continuance insurance Program eligibility To be eligible for our Graduate Program, you must:be a citizen of, or hold permanent resident in Australia: andbe in your final year of university studies (Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree), or have graduated in the last 12 monthshave completed or be committed to completing your Practical Legal Training (PLT)be available to commence full-time employment early 2026 How to apply If you are a passionate and driven Law Graduate ready to start on an exciting legal career, we want to hear from youPlease submit the following to hr@rigbycooke.com.au: Detailed resume Academic transcripts Confirmation of year and month of graduation Proof of residency status In your cover letter, tell us about your career aspirations and how you believe your skills align with the position description and Rigby Cooke's values and objectives.
