Principal Data/app Engineer

We are seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join our Commercial Excellence team within the broader Data Engineer community at the Center for Process Excellence.
As a Principal Data Engineer, you will implement data solutions, develop applications, and automate processes on platforms such as Celonis, Salesforce.com, and Marketo.
This role requires understanding diverse business needs, designing innovative solutions, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver impactful results.
Success depends on close stakeholder collaboration across functions and the ability to influence organizational change.
The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, commercial environment with experience in solving conceptual and analytical problems related to Commercial Excellence topics like Customer Master Data, Customer Segmentation, and Sales Funnel Analytics.
Responsibilities Understand and analyze business requirements in collaboration with team members Coordinate with data scientists, business process analysts, and SMEs to align on objectives and technical specifications Build and customize data models, applications, and automations on the Celonis platform for insights and process improvements Design, develop, and deploy data pipelines integrating sources such as SAP, Salesforce, and Marketo Establish and maintain data quality and governance standards to ensure accuracy and integrity Integrate Celonis applications with other enterprise tools for seamless data flow and system compatibility Create automated workflows to connect with other enterprise systems and applications Optimize and support large-scale data processing systems for performance and reliability Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for Celonis applications and data pipelines Document technical specifications, solutions, and processes for future reference Qualifications 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, software development, or analytics roles Proven experience with Salesforce.com, Marketo, Celonis, or similar platforms, including data engineering, process mining, and automation Successful project delivery in complex, global organizations across people, process, data, and technology domains Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; solid understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and governance Experience with enterprise systems like SAP, CRM, HRM, and data integration into platforms like Celonis Hands-on experience with process automation and orchestration tools is advantageous Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure and distributed data systems Ability to translate business problems into effective, measurable solutions Results-driven with a high sense of urgency, proven problem-solving skills, and a track record of delivering ahead of schedule Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of business process modeling and process mining is a plus Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams; certifications like Product Owner or Scrum Master are advantageous Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field; Master's Degree preferred Compensation The base salary ranges from US$134,500 to $179,500 annually, depending on factors such as location, experience, and skills.
