Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Supervisor or Lab Manager to join their fast paced Diagnostic Genomics laboratory.This will be a Full-time, Temporary role for 10 months with possibility of extension and/or permanency.This role will consist of managing and leading the Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory, a multi-disciplinary lab performing conventional cytogenetics, FISH, SNP Microarray, and molecular genetic techniques (including NGS) for the investigation of constitutional and somatic abnormalities.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Diagnostic Genomics Department.
Plan and co-ordinate the resources and work of the laboratory, supervise some of the more complex investigations, in collaboration with the Clinical Director.
Manage and control the staffing resources of the department.
Develop and implement training programs for staff and coordinate the recruitment of staff.
Manage the development and introduction of new Genomic techniques and review and modify existing methods.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and guidelines.
Responsible for the maintenance of laboratory equipment and the efficient use of laboratory supplies.
Implement operational policies and procedures.
Provide professional scientific advice to clinicians regarding the provision and interpretation of tests.
QUALIFICATIONS: Tertiary qualifications in Medical Laboratory Science or other relevant science related field.
EXPERIENCE: ESSENTIAL:Minimum three years' experience working in a supervisory role in a Diagnostic Laboratory.
DESIRABLE:Experience as a technical assessor for NATA.
Subject matter expert experience in Pathology Laboratory Information Systems.
