Our skilled crews and state-of-the-art aircraft operate to the highest safety and performance standards possible, ensuring vital missions are carried out with precision, professionalism, and care.About The RoleOur team is growing, and we are seeking a Training and Checking Aircrew Officer to join us at our Hobart / Cambridge Airport Facility supporting the Star Flight Australia Aeromedical, SAR and Air Law Enforcement operations for the people and State of Tasmania.Roster: Based on an equal time work practice calculated over a 90-day periodThe position will consist of administrative duties, as well as Check and Training of Flight and Medical crews, plus ACO line shifts as required on the roster.As the Training and Checking Aircrew Officer, your key accountabilities are to:Assist the pilot to carry out all aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other government support duties.
Ensure the Captain is promptly advised on all matters affecting the safety, serviceability or effectiveness of the aircraft or the operation.
Carry out all duties and training in accordance with the Star Flight Operations Manual.
Assist in ensuring that all flight and task documentation is accurately completed and that all crews are adequately briefed and de briefed on any deficiencies promptly addressed.
Conduct Training and Checking duties for all Flight and Medical crew.
Ensure the currency and recency requirements for all flight and medical crew are maintained and documented.
Oversee the serviceability and compliance of all operational role equipment Arrange and oversee the logistics and planning of sortie profiles, for annual training sorties.
Liaise closely with the Chief Pilot / Chief ACO on any matters pertaining to restrictions on operational capability.About YouWe are looking for an experienced Training and Checking Aircrew Officer who can demonstrate a background in a HEMS commercial or military environment, and is looking for their next challenge.Along with excellent communication skills, and a keen interest in being part of a team, you will be comfortable offering operational support including ground training, administrative and other non-flight tasks.Mandatory Requirements:Minimum 1000 hours as a Helicopter Aircrew Officer Certificate IV Aviation – Aircrew Officer Winch Endorsement Demonstrated Training and Checking experience within the EMS industry Minimum 100 hours NVIS experience, including night winching Front Left Hand Seat Operations (IFR)CASA Class 2 Medical Current Senior First Aid / CPRCrew Resource Management HUET / EBS Qualified Dangerous Good Awareness Ability to pass the Star Flight Functionality Assessment (ACO)Highly Desirable:Certificate IV Training and Assessment - TAE40110 or above FLIR Operations AROC (Aeronautical Radio Operator's Certificate)SAR / EMS experience on B412 or EC/H145Functionality AssessmentThe Functionality Test for the ACO role is made up of five components.All five components are to be completed within a two (2) hour timeframe.Assessment 1 – Abdominal Strength Test – 30 sit-ups under 2 minutes Assessment 2 – Upper Body Strength Test – 20 push-ups under 2 minutes Assessment 3 – Safe lifting techniques – 5 kettlebell deadlifts Assessment 4 – 1km Equipment
