The Benefits :2,700 per day Travel Included Accommodation Included Staff Specialist – Cairns – Inpatient ASAP – 01.08.25 Brand new facility One of 5 inpatient teams supported by registrar, RMO, and interns.
The 5th team is a new PICU dedicated team (not required for this role).
The ward operates off geographically based teams, allocating patients based on the suburb they live in, which means all teams attend to all levels of acuity.
Forensic order and treatment authority patients are frequent.
Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 No nights No weekends No on call Staff Specialist – Cairns – Adult Community ASAP – 15.08.25 Ends 31.12.25 This position is with adult community-based teams within the Mental Health Service.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide relief as required across these teams, which offer a wide range of MHAOD community-based support across Cairns and surrounds.
Services include telephone-based intake, acute crisis support, rehabilitation, perinatal, and ongoing community management of serious mental illness.
Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630 No nights No weekends No on call Staff Specialist – Cairns – Remote East ASAP – 10.10.25 Minimum 6-week booking Fly-in, Fly-out position serving remote communities (Torres Strait, Northern Peninsula, Cooktown, Hopevale, Wujal Wujal).
Typical schedule: 1 week on outreach, 1 week based in Cairns.
Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630, with occasional travel outside these hours during outreach Supported by registrar and GP with advanced MH skills Outreach accommodation and travel arranged by the service No nights No weekends No on call The Location : Cairns, a vibrant city in tropical North Queensland, is a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, offering breathtaking natural beauty and endless adventure.
It is accessible via direct flights from major Australian cities: approximately 3 hours from Sydney, 3.5 hours from Melbourne, and 2 hours from Brisbane.
Once there, lush landscapes, coastal views, and opportunities for snorkelling, diving, and rainforest exploration await, making it ideal for nature lovers.
