Reporting directly to our supportive and progressive Chief Financial Officer (CFO), St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne is seeking to appoint a motivated Deputy CFO to drive Finance team development and performance whilst nurturing cross functional relationships, with a focus on improved financial accountabilities across the organisation.
Collaborating throughout St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, located on the home of the Wurundjeri people, the Deputy CFO will demonstrate the ability to look past existing ways of working and identify opportunities for increased efficiencies and systems utilisation.
Offering a deep professional network across healthcare more broadly, the Deputy CFO will lean on those relationships to identify and resolve common sector challenges, working consultatively to position St Vincents Finance team as a leader in its field.
Key to success in the role will be a collaborative inter-professional approach, underpinned by high level financial operations capabilities and technical expertise.
These capabilities should be founded on a calm and clear leadership style, comfortable having frank, outcomes focused conversations across "One St Vincent's".
The Deputy CFO will be committed to elevating departmental capabilities, ultimately ensuring St Vincent's delivers the highest calibre of patient-centred healthcare outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Set the approach to strategic financial planning across the hospital, communicating this to key stakeholders and ensuring the current and future needs of SVHM are met Develop and manage the annual operational and capital budget process in line with agreed parameters and timelines Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to identify and evaluate financial improvement opportunities Identify factors likely to impact future financial performance and work with stakeholders to implement risk mitigation strategies Develop timely and accurate financial performance reporting across all programs and departments Develop and deliver regular forecasting to both internal and external stakeholders Lead the development of appropriate financial governance arrangements across the organisation, driving improvements as appropriate Ownership of all finance policies, ensuring these are current and reflect the changing financial and regulatory environment Development of long-term capital plans, ensuring all capital expenditure has a clearly defined funding source This is an exciting time to join St Vincent's - organisationally we are on the verge of great things with our clinical expertise frequently at the forefront of medical breakthroughs.
This role offers significant exposure to senior management with an expectation of forging productive, "trusted advisor" relationships with Executive Directors.
Selection Criteria Member of CAANZ or CPA Australia Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, accounting, law or finance Outstanding judgement, commercial acumen, creative and strategic mindset, and able to provide practical commercial solutions and strategic advice Proven track record to manage tight budgets and deliver projects on time Deep experience in policy and planning at the corporate level Experience as a senior leader in a large and complex organisation Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to consultation, influencing and conflict resolution Demonstrated ability to foster a culture that encourages sound patient care, financial responsibility, innovation and productivity improvements A strong record of motivating and developing employees through effective leadership Proven ability to exercise sound judgement in ethical and management issues Capacity to be an effective member of the Executive team, stimulate constructive debate and support colleagues in the achievement of organisational objectives Because you're like us, you believe in our vision that every person, whoever and wherever they are, is served with excellent and compassionate care, by a better and fairer health and aged care system.
