Company: Gold Fields Group Services (Pty) Ltd Our Opportunity: Reporting to the Managing Counsel Australia, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a full range of legal services to our four Australian mines sites and functional support teams in the Australian jurisdiction, with a particular focus on material commercial contracts, procurement and supply chain matters.
This is a broad role for a Senior Lawyer excited to build strong relationships and work closely with leadership teams, including operations, ESG, contracts, exploration, community and corporate affairs, to ensure legal strategies meet business objectives.

Support the broader legal function with commercial contract drafting and negotiation, management of disputes, incident management, ESG compliance, corporate governance, and all related areas.
Proactive identification of legal risks, collaborating with the business to reach practical solutions.
Work with and manage external legal counsel, to the extent required to support the delivery of legal objectives.
Stay up to date on legal and regulatory changes, advising on compliance and implementing strategies.
Support the implementation of Gold Fields group initiatives in the Australian jurisdiction, including compliance programmes, ethics and Code of Conduct requirements.
Assist with the review and updating of relevant policies and procedures within the Australian legal and governance function.
Support junior team members with training and development.
About you: Extensive experience as a practicing lawyer, with experience in a Senior Associate or Senior Legal Counsel level role.
Extensive operational experience in mining, resources, infrastructure or similar industries.
Skilled in engaging and consulting at Senior Leadership level.
Extensive experience in negotiating and drafting a variety of commercial contracts, with the ability to make risk-based decisions within a business context.
Experience in managing contentious issues, including commercial claims or disputes, work health and safety matters, employment and investigation matters.
Bachelor of Law degree with current WA practicing certificate.
Admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia and High Court of Australia.
