A Head of Department - Student Services role is currently available at Ripley Valley State Secondary College.This position offers the opportunity to shape the culture, curriculum, and pedagogy of the College, focusing on Diverse Learners and Inclusive practices for Years 7-9.The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal and Leadership team to enhance the College's ability to meet the needs of diverse learners and promote inclusivity across the school community.This is a temporary full-time position for 12 months, commencing 22 April 2025, unless otherwise determined.

The College is in a rapid growth area and will accommodate more than 2000 students when at full capacity.

Leaders joining the College must have exceptional relational skills, be driven to build a positive, welcoming and supportive learning culture, demonstrate deep understanding of inclusive practices in order to implement evidence-based practice, and be willing and able to commit to the college's development and growth.About The Role The ideal applicant should have a strong working knowledge of inclusive practices as well the supports and interventions that can be used to assist diverse learners to engage with the Australian Curriculum.
You will also have experience in NCCD, RAR, ICP and PLP processes to improve student outcomes.
The successful applicant will provide leadership and direction for the whole school as it relates to diverse learners, inclusive practices and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across all learning areas and phases with a particular focus on years 7-9.
You will also be required to case manage Extensive and Substantial students within our MTSS, and lead a support staff team to improve learning outcomes for all students.
As the Head of Department - Student Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following: Lead the curriculum focus and school department in developing and committing to a shared vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
Be future-oriented and strategic.
Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff.
