Are you passionate about using your lived experience to support and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities? Join us as a First Nations Peer Wellbeing Navigator.
This role provides an opportunity to offer culturally responsive peer support, guiding individuals on their mental health and recovery journeys through an approach-blending traditional cultural healing knowledge and practices with mainstream mental health services.

What You'll Be Doing:
Intentional Peer Support - Walk alongside community members, using shared experiences to create meaningful connections.
One-on-One Service Navigation - Assist individuals in accessing the right supports, advocating for their needs.
Facilitating First Nations Group Sessions - Lead culturally safe peer-led recovery groups that support social and emotional wellbeing.
Building Capacity - Strengthen community engagement, empowering individuals to navigate health services confidently.
Support Social and Emotional Wellbeing - Support engagement with culturally appropriate treatment options, incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of healing.
You will have:
Personal experience with mental health challenges, distress, or recovery and a willingness to share your journey in a culturally safe and appropriate way.
A strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social and emotional wellbeing, recognising how cultural, spiritual, and kinship systems influence health and healing.
Demonstrated connections to First Nations communities, with knowledge of the unique barriers faced in accessing mental health supports.
The ability to provide trauma-informed, person-centered peer support while honouring the strengths and resilience of First Nations peoples.
A community-recognised voice-acknowledged by local Elders, leaders, or organisations.
What You Need to Bring:
Certificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Peer Work or 1+ year experience in a relevant field
Ability to work a rotating roster including evenings
100 points of ID and Right to Work in Australia
Driver's Licence
National Police Check, Working with Children Check (Blue Card) & NDIS Worker Screening Check
Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Modules (free online course)
