We are recruiting Senior Solicitors and Principal Solicitors with experience in providing legal advice across various legal areas to join the NSW Crown Solicitor's Office (CSO) Public Law division.
The successful candidates will provide high-quality legal advice to NSW Government agencies on diverse legal issues, including:
- Statutory interpretation
- Constitutional law
- Information and privacy law
- Employment law and industrial relations
- Anti-discrimination
- Work, health, and safety
- Commercial law and transaction support
- Crown copyright
- Property law and Crown land
- Government procurement and public finance
They may also draft and review contracts and transaction documents. These roles involve managing a practice and supervising early-career solicitors, requiring advanced legal skills and experience in complex legal areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing written legal advice to government agencies on a range of legal matters
- Solving complex legal problems and drafting recommendations for clients
- Managing a team of junior solicitors and providing guidance and supervision as needed
- Drafting and reviewing contracts and transaction documents
About the role
This recruitment aims to build a dynamic talent pool for current and future roles within the Public Law division at CSO.
Requirements and selection criteria
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a lawyer
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong understanding of NSW legislation and case law
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
