What you will do as the IT Security Advisor Role The IT Security Advisor is part of a small, high-performing team of security professionals within the Information Management & Technology Services (IMTS) Branch.
In this role, you will: Support the strategic and operational security posture of the ACCC, in line with the PSPF, ISM, and Essential Eight.
Conduct security assessments of systems, products, and services to ensure compliance with government standards.
Monitor and respond to security events and incidents, including coordinating investigations.
Provide expert security advice to project teams, business units, and senior executives.
Lead and support security uplift initiatives and projects aligned with the ISM and Essential Eight maturity model.
About You In order to succeed in the role, you will have: Demonstrated expertise in ICT security including risk management, security assessments, incident response, and the implementation of security controls in line with the ISM, PSPF, and Essential Eight.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex security issues and develop practical, risk-based solutions.
Proven ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior executives.
Experience in delivering security uplift projects and initiatives that improve organisational security maturity and resilience.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment, showing initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
