Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking a Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker -Advanced Mi CAP to join the team within the Midwifery Group Practice at the Townsville University Hospital on a Permanent full-time basis.

About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate effective, coordinated and culturally capable services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women (and their families and carers) accessing maternity services through the Midwifery Group Practice at the Townsville University Hospital.

Salary range: $2878.20 to $3958.00 p.f.
(HWF3)
4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
Plus Salary Sacrificing ( https://www.careers.health.qld.gov.au/working-for-us/salary-and-benefits/salary-packaging ) options may be available

About your opportunity
The Senior Health Worker will exercise autonomy, initiative and judgement in the use of resources under their control and in day-to-day resolution of issues and problems, including but not limited to:

Development and use of resources.
Prioritisation of work.
Safety measures and procedures.
Monitoring occupational health and safety regulations and mentoring of other health workers.
Preparation of reports and statistics.

Requirements:

Appointment, and future increment progression, between pay points HWF3.1 to HWF3.5 requires:

Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care

Appointment, and future increment progression, between pay points HWF3.2 to HWF3.7, or HWF3.8 (limited to employees who meet the requirements of HED 04/23) requires:

Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a 'working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
