About the role Our Legal Team is highly regarded across the energy industry.
We are looking to grow and have Senior Legal Counsel and Legal Counsel opportunities available.
These roles are based in our Brisbane CBD office and could be under permanent (fulltime or part time) or fixed-term arrangements.
We are seeking legal professionals with hands-on experience in a variety of areas but notably: Negotiating, drafting and executing major project development (front or back end); In particular, construction and procurement experience (front or back end); Working as a key member of multi-disciplinary teams executing business objectives; Managing the legal aspects of M&A, project development, disputes, operational and general corporate matters.
Our Legal Counsel operate within a relatively flat structure and provide legal advice across the business regarding operational matters, renewable energy project development including acquisition, structuring and execution, long term energy offtake and capacity arrangements, project execution / contract management, dispute management and litigation, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and general contracting and commercial law.
Key activities include: Negotiate legal aspects of contracts, agreements and other documentation.
Provide legal advice to protect the interests of the Corporation and proactively determine which legal matters require the attention of the Board, CEO, management and staff and provide appropriate detailed advice, options and recommendations.
Ensure that the use of external legal resources is appropriate, efficient and cost effective.
Develop, negotiate and mediate constructive strategies and tactics to solve complex and contentious legal and commercial problems.
Comply with the professional and ethical obligations imposed by legislation, the common law and relevant professional bodies on members of the legal profession.
About you Senior Associate or above level experience and credentials with hands-on in-house or law firm experience.
Strong track record of providing strategic and practical advice while managing legal and commercial risk.
Industry experience, ideally in energy, projects or construction.
Proven ability to navigate solutions to challenging problems.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills to Board level (and external agencies and stakeholders if appropriate), in particular, the ability to write quickly, accurately, clearly and concisely in a structured manner that synthesises complex facts, analyses, interpretations, and written and oral opinions.
Objectivity, professionalism and ethical approach to dealing with sensitive, controversial and complex issues.
Tertiary qualifications in law.
