The 5th team is a new PICU dedicated team (not required for this role).
The ward operates off geographically based teams (patients allocated based on suburb), allowing all teams to attend to all levels of acuity.
Frequent forensic order and treatment authority patients.
Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1630 No nights, weekends, or on-call duties Staff Specialist – Cairns – Adult Community ASAP – 15.08.25 Until 31.12.25 Provide relief across adult community-based teams within the Mental Health Service, supporting a range of community services including telephone intake, crisis support, rehabilitation, perinatal, and ongoing management of serious mental illness.
Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1630 No nights, weekends, or on-call duties Staff Specialist – Cairns – Remote East ASAP – 10.10.25 Minimum 6-week booking Fly-in, fly-out position serving remote communities (Torres Strait, Northern Peninsula, Cooktown, Hopevale, Wujal Wujal).
Typical schedule: 1 week outreach, 1 week based in Cairns.
Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1630, with occasional travel outside these hours during outreach Supported by registrar and GP with advanced MH skills Accommodation and travel arranged by the service No nights, weekends, or on-call duties The Location: Cairns is a vibrant city in tropical North Queensland, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, offering natural beauty and adventure.
Accessible via direct flights from major Australian cities: approx.
3 hours from Sydney, 3.5 hours from Melbourne, and 2 hours from Brisbane.
The city features lush landscapes, coastal views, and outdoor activities like snorkelling, diving, and rainforest exploration.
