General Manager

: Full time, Permanent role One PTO (Personal Time Off) per month Location: Fawkner/Hybrid The opportunity Reporting directly to the Chief Customer Officer the role will form part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Customer Directorate and is responsible for taking a strategic and enterprise-wide approach to the organisation's marketing, brand and communications objectives and requirements.
As the 'owner' of the GMCT brand strategy, the General Manger Marketing & Communications is responsible for driving the consistent and considered application of the brand across all channels and touchpoints and ensuring the credibility of the GMCT brand is always protected.
The General Manger Marketing & Communications is responsible for setting the organisation's strategic approach to the development of marketing/awareness campaigns, establishing a digital channel strategy & ongoing management plan, internal and external communications aligned to operational and strategic objectives and proactive media & PR management.
The role is ultimately responsible for driving engagement, building trust and growing GMCT's influence and impact by leading strategic, brand-aligned communication, marketing and digital efforts across all channels and audiences.
Key Responsibilities included but not limited to: Establish a strategic approach to the organisation's marketing, digital and communication functions, aligned to the strategic plan, Board endorsed strategies and operational objectives.
Develop and oversee the implementation of annual marketing/awareness plans, by Region, aligned to the organisational annual plan, operational objectives (including new inventory release) and engagement plans.
Engage and empower team members to take ownership of the development and implementation of annual marketing/awareness plans and ensure ongoing oversight to guide decision making as required.
Working with the Chief Customer Officer, establish the organisational brand strategy and proactively own brand stewardship to ensure a consistent application across all channels/touchpoints and ensure the credibility of the brand is protected.
Develop and implement a communication plan to appropriately explain the 'why' behind the brand strategy/positioning for both internal (Board, Executive, Indoor and Outdoor teams) and external audiences (key stakeholders, customers and community members).
Ensure all communication assets are in alignment with the defined GMCT brand strategy/tone of voice and develop a range of templates for internal distribution across the organisation.
Develop a Digital Channel Strategy and oversee the implementation to ensure that digital channels are appropriately utilised to communicate the organisation's value proposition, educate users and foster informed decision making (key priority is the proposed website enhancement initiative).
To be successful in this position you will require: A relevant tertiary qualification in a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years prior experience in a relevant senior role Demonstratable achievements that enhanced the customer/user experience and improved organisational outcomes in the areas of communications, brand management and marketing Proven experience in digital marketing and leveraging online channels to achieve a strategic objective Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a natural collaborative approach with the ability to influence at all levels Experience reporting to an Executive level role, developing Board quality reports and reporting to a Board Demonstrated experience managing and reporting on budgets experience in the leadership of people A career with us: Our people are our most valued asset - we understand the importance of providing a rewarding, inclusive and supportive work environment where all people are empowered to bring their best selves.
