This includes maintaining awareness of emerging developments in digital archival practice, engaging with the local and international digital archiving community, developing policies to support long-term preservation of and access to digital material, supporting the implementation of archival management systems and building digital archiving capability within the organisation.
The DAIR is responsible for ensuring the National Archives preserves digital information by researching, designing and implementing contemporary digital archiving techniques.
About the Role The DAIR section is seeking applications to fill to role of Senior Data Analyst.
The role will research and undertake data analysis and build data visualisations to inform decision making and bring data to life for end users.
The role will also scope and develop regular reports for key business functions and prepare written reports, infographics and presentations detailing the findings and analysis.
The role offers a unique opportunity to develop new insights into the use and management of National Archives' collection spanning 40 million items, including records about military service, immigration, First Australians and much more.
Under limited direction the main duties of the role are to: Research and undertake data analysis and build data visualisations to inform decision making and bring data to life for end users and document and report on methods used and analyses undertaken.
Scope and develop regular reports for key business functions, including developing repeatable processes and recommending suitable tools.
Prepare written reports, infographics and presentations detailing the findings of analysis including evaluation of results and recommendations.
Develop, manage relationships and work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the National Archives to raise awareness of data analysis benefits and build capability.
Work collaboratively within the section, contributing to strategic planning, program and project management.
Apply the principles of APS Values, Code of Conduct, workplace diversity, work health and safety and participative management within a work and team environment.
Promote and apply the National Archives' Vision, Mission and Commitments as expressed in The Archives Way.

If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline clearance level.
