Working hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
About the Role
Our client is a world-leading funding scheme that supports and improves the lives of people living with a disability.
They are seeking an Assistant Director - Economics and Insights to join their team in Surry Hills NSW on a 12-month contract with potential for extension.
Candidates must have superior analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex economic issues, a postgraduate degree in economics and econometrics or similar, and proficiency with statistical software (R, Python, Stata, SAS).
As an Assistant Director, you will lead small teams to deliver economic research and analysis supporting evidence-based decision-making on complex economic and pricing policies.
Key Responsibilities
Work with like-minded individuals to address challenges in the care economy and human services markets.
Engage in policy considerations regarding the current and future states of support markets.
Apply statistical and economic modelling using large datasets to understand market functioning and propose improvements.
Design pilot studies to address information asymmetries and market failures.
Collaborate across teams and with external experts and academics to understand priorities.
Make significant impacts on the allocation of Scheme resources projected to grow.
About the Economics and Insights Team
The team examines cross-cutting economic issues in the organization and broader care sectors, using analysis, research frameworks, and modelling tools.
They apply economic thinking and data analysis to support pricing decisions that maximize participant wellbeing while ensuring Scheme sustainability.
About You
You are a senior professional with a strong background in economics, proven experience, and reliability.
The successful candidate will possess:
Essential Criteria
Must hold Australian Citizenship
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
Structured thinking and development of analytical frameworks
Quantitative skills to handle and analyze data
Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
Ability to pass necessary checks (e.g., criminal history, working with children, security clearance)
Desirable Criteria
Postgraduate degree in economics and econometrics or similar
Experience with economic challenges in the care economy
Proficiency with statistical software (R, Python, Stata, SAS)
