Location: Sydney or Melbourne Salary: From $147,074 + 15.4% superannuation Type: Permanent Application deadline: 11:59pm AEST, Thursday 29 May 2025 About ASIC ASIC's remit is broad, regulating corporations, markets, financial services, and consumer credit in Australia.
We promote market integrity and consumer protection, holding violators accountable to achieve strong outcomes that address consumer and investor harms.
Role Overview ASIC's Licensing team seeks a Senior Lawyer to provide legal expertise supporting ASIC's gatekeeper functions, assessing financial services licenses, consumer credit licenses, and related applications.
Responsibilities Provide legal advice on Australian Financial Services and Credit licenses, and auditor registrations.
Manage complex license matters, support legal proceedings, and ensure compliance with legal notices and subpoenas.
Review legal frameworks, contribute to policy reforms, and mentor team members.
Engage with senior stakeholders, regulators, and external parties.
Candidate Requirements Bachelor of Laws and current unrestricted practicing certificate.
Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience.
Strong legal knowledge in financial services.
Experience providing complex legal advice and solutions.
Excellent communication skills, experience with industry and government engagement.
Experience with administrative law and court processes is desirable.
