Direct message the job poster from Monoova Human Resource Professional ~ Pioneering Change and Development About us At Monoova, we partner with some of the most innovative companies in the country, building world-class payment products that support the digital economy of tomorrow.
As we scale rapidly, we're looking for curious, driven, and creative minds to join us on the journey.
As a leading Payment Service Provider (PSP), we're powering the future of money movement with our API-first platform — integrating NPP, Pay To, Pay ID, Direct Debit, BPAY, and cross-border transfers into one seamless solution.
Our mission? To help businesses move money smarter, faster, and safer — eliminating friction and enabling real-time experiences.
With the broadest set of payment rails offered by any non-bank PSP in the country, we help our clients — many of them high-growth tech companies — reach and transact with up to 10% of all Australians.
Our values Integrity – We're a company built on integrity, inside and outside of our organisation.
Empathy – We take great care to understand perspectives of everyone in our eco-system Innovation – Individually and as an organisation, we are innovators.
Everything we do today, can and will be improved tomorrow.
Performance – We are a results-driven organisation with a commitment to technology.
In this role, you'll be: Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee (ARCC).
The role is critical to Monoova's ability to manage risk effectively, including financial crime, regulatory compliance, credit exposure and operational integrity.
This role will drive Monoova's culture of accountability and Risk / Reward optimisation through ongoing refinement, implementation and embedding of the Risk Management Framework together with supporting risk and compliance policies, frameworks, processes, systems and tools, metrics and governance structures.
This role does not end at "creating a framework".
To be successful, you will be across commercial and operational implementation of the framework you oversee.
You are expected to play a leadership role both internally and externally, regularly representing Monoova at industry events and consultations to entrench Monoova's position as a leading manager of risk in our industry.
What we expect of you: To be a leader of Monoova, not just the risk function.
Whether in the immediate area of your expertise or not, you act in the best interest of the whole organisation at all times.
This could include facilitating commercial conversations, representing Monoova at external events and contributing to improvements outside of risk and compliance.
To assume responsibility for developing, implementing and embedding governance, reporting and oversight of material risks to LT, ARCC and Board (as required), and integration of risk management and compliance considerations in key decision-making to support the organisation's strategic objectives.
To coordinate with relevant stakeholders to document and communicate the Risk Management Framework (including the risk management policies, risk appetite, risk culture and behaviours).
To lead the operationalisation and implementation of the Risk Management Framework across the organisation.
This includes ongoing identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of key exposures and risks, and the management of these key risks.
To ensure an understanding of key risks and exposures across the whole Monoova team and to facilitate responsible and effective risk-taking in line within risk appetite and limits.
To provide risk-focused inputs on key decisions taken by the organisation including, but not limited to, onboarding of clients, strategic planning, capital and liquidity planning, new products & services, new platforms & systems and compensation structure.
Establish overall risk appetite and limits appropriate to individual product and industry contexts.
Build a strong team of risk subject matter experts (SMEs) and risk management capabilities commensurate with the size, scope and risk challenges of the organisation.
Establish and maintain strong, transparent relationships with all internal and external counterparties.
You bring: Experience of senior risk and operational roles in financial services, ideally with exposure to A2 A payments as well as FX.
You have worked across financial crime, AML/CTF and licensing compliance, and credit underwriting as well as operational and commercial risk in the past.
Existing relationships with regulators such as APRA, ASIC, AFCA and AUSTRAC.
Structured thought process and a strong analytical ability, and experience with operational execution of the Group's risk management frameworks Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships inside and outside of the organisation Strategic direction, mentorship, and support to build a high-performing risk function that drives excellence and fosters professional growth.
Performance, Integrity, Innovation and Empathy in line with the company's values Monoova Culture and Benefits We reward great work with short-term incentives that recognise your impact and dedication.
We offer learning budget, opportunities, workshops, and development programs to help you thrive.
