EL 2 - Director - Defence Transformation Office $134,567 - $161,521 + up to 15.4% SuperannuationCanberra - ACTThe RoleAs the Director, Defence Transformation Office (DTO) within Enterprise Transformation and Governance Division you are a leader who is passionate about leading and supporting the Defence reform agenda contributing to National Defence Strategy outcomes.You will work to embed a contemporary approach to Transformation through the development and oversight of the Defence Transformation Plan that focuses efforts towards the achievement of an agreed future state.Key functions performed by the DTO include:Providing targeted and timely performance reporting to Defence's senior leadership to support agile decision making and the achievement of transformation outcomes;Applying program management and risk management capabilities, performance management and evaluation skills to support delivery outcomes;Leading communication and stakeholder engagement to acquire program insights and support broader awareness and understanding of the significant change agenda;Leading a high performing team to drive and support transformation outcomes.About our TeamThe Enterprise Transformation Branch sits within the Enterprise Transformation and Governance Division which is at the heart of Defence's strategic centre and supports the Associate Secretary to integrate, transform and govern the work of Defence.This work is underpinned by the foundational reform principles outlined in the National Defence Strategy:Simplification;Workforce optimization;Digitisation.The Branch integrates the work across Defence to enable more effective and efficient outcomes, particularly in the areas of service delivery and transformation.
The Defence Transformation Office provides the vision and framework for long-term, enterprise-wide transformation.We work alongside priority programs to drive and embed transformation, innovation and continuous improvement to support agile and enduring strategic change in line with National Defence Strategy and other critical strategic priorities for Defence.Our Ideal CandidateWe are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable leader with a proactive mindset that will allow them to gain a deep understanding of the transformation activities across Defence and play an active role in supporting delivery outcomes.Key attributes:Passionate about transformation and its value;Demonstrated experience in delivering complex change projects/programs;An in-depth understanding of project management methods and their application to delivery of projects/programs;Ability to develop internal project/program management capability (coaching, skills transfer);Exceptional stakeholder management skills, ability to develop and cultivate positive, collaborative working relationships;Ability to develop impactful communication to influence stakeholders and support transformation initiatives;Demonstrated experience in tracking and monitoring progress of projects/programs, including milestone tracking and benefits realisation;Ability to identify and manage strategic risks as well as strong problem-solving, judgement, and negotiation skills;Ability to lead and build a High Performing Team that embraces innovation.A career within the Department of Defence means daily opportunities to learn, grow and turn plans into reality.
